WORTH VISITING IN THE CLOSE NEIGHBOURHOOD OF THE HOTEL

GREAT SYNAGOGUE IN DOHÁNY STREET

Europe's largest synagogue (and the second largest in the world) was built in a romantic style between 1854-59, with interior design partly by Frigyes Feszl, according to Ludwig Förster's plans. The number of the seats of the three-nave hall church is more than 3 thousand.

MIKSA ROTH MEMORIAL HOUSE

The exhibition for Miksa Roth, the most renowned glass painter and mosaic artist of the past turn of the century presents his works of art in his former apartment planned by Samu Petz.

The museum of the Hungarian veterinary history can be visited after making an appointment.

 

FASORI REFORMED CHURCH

This masterpiece of the Art Nouveau represents a highest level of the style.Built by Aladár Árkay between 1911-1913 with Miksa Róth glass windows.

 

HUNGARIAN JEWISH MUSEUM AND ARCHIVES

The Jewish Museum was built on the place where Theodor Herzl's two-story Classicist style house used to stand, adjoining the Dohany synagogue. The Jewish Museum constructed between 1930-1931 holds collection of religious relics of the Pest Hevrah Kaddishah (Jewish Burial Society), ritual objects of Shabbat and the High Holidays and a Holocaust room.

 

ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH AND SCULPTURE OF SAINT ELISABETH OF HUNGARY

The Neo - Gothic Roman Catholic church devoted to Saint Elisabeth of Hungary was built between 1896-1900 based on the plans of Imre Steindl.

 

NEW-YORK PALACE, NEW-YORK CAFÉ

The four-storey, eclectic New York palace was built between 1891-1895 for an American insurance company. The bead of the building was the world's most beautiful cafe.

 

STAMP MUSEUM

The collection contains almost 12 million Hungarian and foreign country stamps, among them some 18 thousand stamp plans, 30 thousand forgeries, 7 thousand occasional rubber stamps, 17 thousand presser devices, 5, 5 million phase prints.

 

KAZINCZY STREET SYNAGOGUE

The Lajta student Löffer brothers, Bela and Alexander designed the Art Nouveau style, Orthodox synagogue. It was built between 1910-1913 brilliantly constructed in the turn of road.

JEWISH MARTYRS MONUMENT

The Jewish Martyrs Monument is Imre Varga's work made in 1991. It is made from granite and steel, each piece of willow leaves reminders for a victim.
